MSC-SC is 6-Week holistic wellness program that combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion to enhance emotional resilience. Participants learn to turn toward and acknowledge difficult thoughts and feelings (such as inadequacy, sadness, anger, confusion) with mindfulness and respond with kindness rather than self-criticism. Research has shown that self-compassion enhances emotional well-being.
This course is based on the groundbreaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer. This course teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to open to the present moment, feel connected to self and others and respond with compassion. There are now over 1200 articles in peer-reviewed journals that show the efficacy of these practices in mental health.
Although this course is open to the general community, psychologists, social workers, and other mental health professionals can also benefit by
exploring the latest research in self-compassion and mindfulness,
discovering how these practices can be integrated under the umbrella of self-compassion training
learning skills that they can practice themselves for personal well-being and to reduce burnout
enhancing their professional skills in domains such as therapy, teaching, or research.
Each weekly class lasts 1 hour. Home practice is encouraged, and all participants are provided a manual
