                              Derek G. Turesky, Ph.D.
                              Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident


                              Availability: Dr. Turesky is currently accepting NEW clients in Boca Raton or Ft.                               Dr. Turesky is a post-doctoral psychology resident specializing in the areas of health psychology, chronic pain management, and mind-body wellness. Before returning back to his hometown of Boca Raton, he trained in a variety of clinical settings including hospitals, VA medical centers, university counseling centers, and senior centers. He was the recipient of the Presidential Graduate Fellowship from the University of Iowa, where he completed a Ph.D. in counseling psychology and an M.A. in clinical-health psychology. For his undergraduate studies, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna cum Laude from
                              Emory University.

                              In addition to his formal psychology training, Dr. Turesky completed specialized trainings in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and an empirically supported mindfulness-based psychotherapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In 2009, he published a mindfulness training DVD and CD entitled, “Mindfulness Meditation and Stress Reduction for Beginners: The Garden of NOW.”

                              Dr. Turesky enjoys providing individual and group psychotherapy for a wide range of clinical issues such as chronic pain, emotional overeating, anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship concerns, grief, life transitions, and work-life balance. Dr. Turesky’s approach to therapy can be best described as collaborative and holistic. He strives to help his clients experience the healing power of mindfulness in addition to increasing their understanding of the dynamic relationship between the mind and body. He has been described by his clients as warm, empathic, and supportive.
